Jimmy White misses out on a return to the Crucible after losing his final World Championship qualifier to Robert Milkins.

Jimmy White has missed out on a place in this year's World Championship after losing his final qualifier today.

White was up against it in a clash with Robert Milkins and trailed 6-3 after the opening session.

Milkins built a commanding lead in the race to 10 frames and had a 9-4 advantage after winning three frames in quick succession.

White rallied to reduce the deficit to 9-6 but ultimately left himself with too much to do, losing the next frame decisively despite a break of 66.

The 50-year-old told BBC Sport: "It is very disappointing after finding some form recently. We both struggled with the table, and there were a tremendous amount of kicks.

"I didn't play well at all out there, if I had got to 9-7 I might have had a chance but I got a kick on 66 or so, my highest break of the match. I will still be going up to Sheffield to support Ronnie O'Sullivan."

Former world champion Ken Doherty also came up short in his bid to qualify, missing out by a single frame 10-9 to Matthew Selt.

Crucible veteran Alan McManus booked his place in tomorrow's first-round draw after easing past Tom Ford.
