Riki Flutey to depart London Wasps at end of the season

London Wasps confirm that centre Riki Flutey will leave the club at the end of the season.

London Wasps centre Riki Flutey has announced that he will leave the Aviva Premiership side when the season comes to a close.

The 32-year-old, who has racked up 81 appearances for the club over two separate stints, has decided to return to New Zealand with his family before moving his career to Japan.

"I am hugely grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had while playing with London Wasps and have been fortunate to have played in some great teams," Flutey told the club's official website.

"I really just want to take this chance to say a massive thanks to Wasps for being so supportive and understanding of what has been a tough decision to leave, but ultimately having four young kids away from family and a support network in New Zealand would be very tough.

"It goes without saying that the club will always have a huge place in my heart, and I would especially like to thank all the fans and supporters I have had while in the UK. I look forward to seeing the club's success with [director of rugby] Dai Young at the helm and returning in the future."

Young added: "We are sorry to lose Riki next year but family comes first and we understand how hard a decision it was to make. I'd like to thank him for his contribution in his time with the club and wish him all the best in the future."

Flutey moved from London Irish to the Wasps in 2007.
