Elliot Daly looking to lay down marker for new England coach

Elliot Daly wants to show new England coach Eddie Jones what he is capable of after being cut from England's World Cup squad.

Wasps back Elliot Daly has revealed that he is looking to impress England's new coach Eddie Jones.

Daly, 23, has been one of the brightest young talents in English rugby over the last few seasons but failed to get a look in under former boss Stuart Lancaster.

Uncapped Daly was actually named in England's initial 50-man squad for the Rugby World Cup but was one of the first players to be cut.

"When I was named in the 50-man squad, I was ecstatic obviously," he told ESPN. "The buzz around the squad was massive, and all the boys wanted to make a big marker on home ground.

"It was so disappointing for them what happened, but there's a big chance to bounce back with a new coach now, and obviously I want to be in the squad. It was devastating to miss out. That's definitely one of my aims to get back in there.

"Last year I was in the Saxons, and if that's where I'm needed, I will try to get into that squad again and just lay down a marker where I can. I definitely want to make that leap up to the main squad, though."

Wasps have been lauded for their style of rugby so far this season and currently sit in sixth in the Aviva Premiership.
