Wolverhampton Wanderers have quashed suggestions that striker Leigh Griffiths paid tribute to the death of a Family Guy character during his goal celebration.
The 23-year-old lifted his shirt after finding the back of the net in last night's 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers to reveal a t-shirt saying, 'R.I.P BRIAN'.
This led to suggestions that Griffiths was marking the death of Brian the dog in the US cartoon comedy show.
However, Wolves have rubbished the claims by writing on Twitter: "As mentioned, it's a family member of Leigh's who passed away recently and nothing to do with Family Guy."
As a result of the victory, Wolves have moved to the top of the League One table.
