Premier League referee Mike Dean reportedly decides against wearing luminous green boots again after they sparked criticism at the weekend.

Premier League referee Mike Dean has reportedly decided against wearing green boots when he next officiates following a flood of criticism.

The match official sparked controversy when he took to the pitch at the Emirates for Manchester City's 2-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday wearing luminous green Nike boots.

After being made aware of the comments, it is understood that Dean has decided against wearing them for his next match, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League allows referees to choose their own brand of boots, whereas world governing body FIFA request that match officials wear Adidas footwear for international matches.
