'La Marseillaise' to be played at Premier League games following Paris attacks?

'La Marseillaise' could reportedly be played prior to every Premier League game this weekend as a mark of respect for the victims of the Paris terror attacks.

The French national anthem 'La Marseillaise' could reportedly be played prior to kickoff at every Premier League game this weekend as a mark of respect for the victims of last week's terror attacks in Paris.

On Friday night, 129 people were killed when a group of suicide bombers targeted six locations across the French capital.

Before Tuesday's international friendly between England and France at Wembley, the anthem was sung by both sets of supporters as a sign of solidarity following the atrocities.

Now, according to PA, Premier League chiefs are considering playing the anthem before kickoff at top-flight games across the country after the notion was discussed at a meeting with club officials on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the league's chief executive Richard Scudamore has claimed that security at this weekend's fixtures will be on "extra high alert" following last week's attacks.

Three suicide bombers blew themselves up outside the Stade de France when the national team were playing Germany last Friday.
