Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville was reportedly turned down by ESPN bosses in the US because of his accent.
The 38-year-old, who is currently a pundit for Sky Sports, is thought to have impressed TV producers working for the broadcaster's sports channel in the US.
Despite his knowledge of the game, Neville was rejected by ESPN as people could not understand his accent when tapes were played back, according to the Daily Star.
Meanwhile, Neville will be joined by Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher in the studio from next season.
