Manchester United fans win a competition to light up part of the Manchester Town Hall red ahead of the derby this evening.

Manchester United fans have come out on top over their Manchester City rivals ahead of tonight's derby by lighting up the town hall red.

Supporters from both sides were given the chance to have the city's landmark building lit up in their team's colours by taking part in a Twitter competition conducted by Virgin Media.

Fans were asked who would come out victorious in tonight's derby, and United fans tweeted 84% more than their opponents to ensure that part of the Manchester Town Hall was draped in red lights, according to the Daily Mail.

On the pitch, United can take an 18-point lead over City if they win this evening.
