Cove Rangers, Aberdeen friendly abandoned after player injury

A serious head injury to Cove Rangers defender Jordon Brown sees their friendly against Aberdeen abandoned.

Sunday's pre-season friendly between Cove Rangers and Aberdeen has been abandoned after a player suffered a serious head injury.

Cove defender Jordon Brown collided with Dons defender Andrew Considine in the second half with the visitors leading 2-1.

Referee Alex Shepherd, Cove manager John Sheran and Aberdeen counterpart Derek McInnes agreed to stop the game as an ambulance was called and fans were asked to leave.

Brown received treatment for over 25 minutes as physios from both teams and the Aberdeen team doctor assisted before paramedics arrived.

The 25-year-old, who signed for Cove in June after five years with Peterhead, was conscious when he was moved into the ambulance and taken to hospital.

The friendly was arranged to officially open Cove's new stadium.
