Nico Rosberg wins Spanish Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg secures his first win of the campaign by finishing ahead of Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Nico Rosberg claimed his first victory of the 2015 season at the Spanish Grand Prix this afternoon.

The German, who started the race in pole position, finished ahead of his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton, who was forced to settle for second place.

It was a relatively routine outing for Rosberg as he completed the 66 laps without ever looking as though he was going surrender his position at the head of the field.

However, further behind him, a slow pitstop looked to have cost Hamilton, but he eventually got the better of Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari.

Further down the field, Williams pair Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen finished fourth and fifth respectively, while Fernando Alonso was forced to withdraw with a brake issue.
