Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton described the track as "dangerous" as qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix was abandoned until Sunday morning.
Hamilton was one of a number of drivers who spun during the first qualifying session as the rain lashed down in Melbourne.
The former McLaren star agreed that the right decision had been made to delay the start of Q2, and that he was hopeful that his team could perform better on Sunday.
The 28-year-old told Sky Sports News: "It was definitely the right decision. It was dangerous out there.
"It's not been a great weekend for us so far, but hopefully we can turn it around tomorrow."
Despite his spin, the Brit safely made it through to the second qualifying session.
