Will Stevens believes that he has the talent to merit a place in Formula 1 and is looking to show his worth to the rest of the grid.
The Briton and teammate Roberto Merhi have been off the pace since returning to the sport after Manor Marussia went into administration at the end of last season, prompting ex-world champion Jacques Villeneuve to suggest that the constructor does not deserve a place in F1.
However, Stevens is keen to deliver performances that attract attention from the bigger teams.
He is quoted by Crash.net as saying: "I always felt that, when I got to F1, I could do a good job. Where I feel strong is in managing situations, and that's where I feel like I've got the upper hand compared to Roberto.
"I just need to keep plugging away - I'm still learning a lot, so I need to keep improving on myself because I'm sure Roberto will get his head around it.
"He's a good driver and he's been successful in F3 and had a DTM drive, so he's well respected. I just need to keep working in that direction and get good results."
Stevens made his Grand Prix debut at last season's Abu Dhabi race, for the now defunct Caterham outfit.
