Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that he wants to see reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton move to Ferrari.
Hamilton, 30, won his second world title last year as his Mercedes team dominated the season from start to finish, leading Ecclestone to the conclusion that the sport would benefit if Hamilton swapped his current team for Ferrari.
"It would be great to see Lewis at Ferrari. Whether Sebastian Vettel would want that, I really don't know. But if Lewis went there, it would be great for the sport — 100 per cent," Ecclestone told The Daily Mail.
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen is out of contract at the end of the season, and with the Italian team yet to exercise their option to extend his deal, there could be a free seat at Maranello next season.
However, reports suggest that Vettel has an option in his contract that allows him to veto any move from the team for Hamilton.
