Wolverhampton Wanderers provide Ruben Neves injury update

Wolverhampton Wanderers confirm that an injury sustained by Ruben Neves during their Europa League win over Crusaders is not serious.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that an injury sustained by Ruben Neves during the first leg of the side's Europa League qualifier against Crusaders was nothing serious.

The talismanic midfielder was forced off after just 58 minutes at the Molineux Stadium following a nasty blow to the abdomen.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side nonetheless ran out 2-0 winners against a gritty Crusaders side which only had 20% possession, with Diogo Jota and Ruben Vinagre claiming the goals.

In a club statement, Wolves' head of medical department Phil Hayward said: "Following a heavy blow to the abdominal area during the second half of last night's game, Ruben was taken to hospital as a precaution for further tests to ensure there was no significant injury to his abdomen.

"Thankfully, all the tests were clear, and he returned home later in the evening."

Wolves head to Belfast for the second leg against Crusaders on Thursday and will play a minimum of 12 games in Europe this season should they reach the group stage.

Aside from making loan deals for Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker permanent, Wolves are yet to make any new signings in this window.
