Adam Forshaw finalises switch from Brentford to Wigan Athletic

Adam Forshaw leaves Brentford to sign a four-year contract with Wigan Athletic.

Wigan Athletic have announced the signing of midfielder Adam Forshaw from Brentford.

The 22-year-old, who has been pursued by Wigan for much of the summer, signs a four-year contract at the DW Stadium and links up with former boss Uwe Rosler.

"First of all, I want to say that Adam was always my number one target as a permanent replacement for Jordi Gomez," Latics boss Rosler told the club website.

"We are all therefore delighted that he is joining us. Of course he is a player I know well, I initially loaned him during my time at Brentford and he gained his first regular league football experience there under me."

Forshaw's unveiling has taken a week to complete after Wigan had a bid accepted by the Bees last Monday.

Last season he helped Brentford to automatic promotion from League One and was crowned the division's best player earlier this year.

He is yet to play football this season, though, because Rosler's successor at Griffin Park, Mark Warburton, reportedly felt that the continued interest in him was proving to be a distraction.

Forshaw is Wigan's second signing on deadline day after it was confirmed that they had beaten off competition to bring in striker Andy Delort from Tours.
