The Football Association has revealed that it is investigating "significant new information" in its ongoing inquiry into racism allegations aimed at Wigan Athletic manager Malky Mackay.
Mackay and former colleague Iain Moody are alleged to have exchanged racist, sexist, homophobic and anti-Semitic text messages by former club Cardiff City. Mackay has repeatedly apologised for his part in the controversy.
The FA opened an investigation into the matter back in August.
English football's governing body were expected to conclude the case by the end of the season, but the emergence of fresh information means that they are not yet ready to publish their report into the matter.
"The FA is currently not in a position to conclude its ongoing enquiries into the allegations relating to Malky Mackay and Iain Moody," read a statement from the FA.
Cardiff are reportedly considering legal action in order to speed up the FA's report.
