Sam Vokes withdraws from Wales squad

Burnley striker Sam Vokes withdraws from the Wales squad to face Netherlands with a groin injury.

Wales striker Sam Vokes has withdrawn from the squad to face Netherlands on Friday due to a groin injury.

The Burnley man missed training with Chris Coleman's side on Tuesday and has now returned to Turf Moor to undergo treatment on the problem.

Fulham's George Williams has been called up to replace Vokes in the squad ahead of the match against Danny Blind's men at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Coleman will also be without strikers Gareth Bale and Hal Robson-Kanu for the friendly, while midfielder Aaron Ramsey is also currently sidelined through injury.

Bournemouth's Shaun MacDonald has also been called into the Wales squad after Birmingham City winger David Cotterill was forced to withdraw.
