Agent: Guus Hiddink to Tottenham Hotspur would "surprise"

Guus Hiddink's agent suggests that his client's agreement to take over as Netherlands boss next summer means that he is unlikely to take Tottenham Hotspur's managerial vacancy.

Reports linking Guus Hiddink with the managerial vacancy at Tottenham Hotspur "should not be taken seriously", according to his agent.

The North London club are searching for a new boss following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, who was relieved of his duties on Monday following the club's 5-0 home thrashing by Liverpool.

Former Chelsea caretaker Hiddink, currently out of work, has been tipped as a potential successor, but his representative, Cees van Nieuwenhuizen, has suggested that his client's agreement to take over as Netherlands manager after the 2014 World Cup means that he is unlikely to take the Spurs hot seat.

"I would be surprised if Hiddink goes to Tottenham," he told Voetbal Primeur. "I can hardly imagine that happening.

"Guus has just signed a deal with the KNVB (Dutch FA) and he has also recently turned down other offers from other countries to be active at the World Cup in Brazil.

"So the rumours surrounding Guus and Tottenham shouldn't be taken seriously."

Tim Sherwood, who will oversee Tottenham's League Cup quarter-final against West Ham United on Wednesday, is the favourite to replace Villas-Boas, with Hiddink available at 16-1 with SkyBet.
