Southampton midfielder Steven Davis believes that his side's pre-season schedule has left them ready for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino's men have enjoyed an impressive pre-season, winning three out of their five games so far.
The Saints made a slow start last season and Davis is keen to see that the team push on, starting with their opening game against West Bromwich Albion.
"Pre-season is all about building your fitness and getting ready for the first game of the season, so now we're getting that little bit closer everyone's getting a bit more excited," the 28-year-old told the club's official website.
"We've got a lot to look forward to this year and hopefully we can get off to a good start at West Brom. I think we've had a good pre-season, with a lot of good work under our belts.
"There's still room for improvement as always and over the next couple of weeks we'll build it up and be ready come the West Brom game."
Davis made 33 appearances last season, scoring two goals in the process.
