Shane Long will miss the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 playoff first leg against Bosnia and Herzegovina due to an ankle injury.
The Southampton striker was a doubt for the clash having suffered the injury during the nation's 2-1 defeat to Poland last month.
The 28-year-old made progress, but has not been deemed fit enough to take part in the tie.
A statement from the Football Association of Ireland said: "Shane Long will not be involved in Friday's first leg as he will remain at Southampton for further treatment on his ankle injury, but he has not been ruled out of next Monday's second leg at the Aviva Stadium."
Meanwhile, Brentford midfielder Alan Judge has recovered from a hamstring injury and will join up with the squad.
