Coronavirus shutdown to affect new Sergio Ramos deal?

The future of Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is reportedly unclear due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Sergio Ramos's future at Real Madrid is reportedly unclear due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Spaniard's current deal at the Bernabeu is due to expire in the summer of 2021.

According to Marca, the coronavirus pandemic has seen Madrid place all football matters on hold, including discussing a new contract with their captain.

Ramos, who will be 34 on March 30, is allegedly keen to sign a new deal beyond 2022.

The centre-back has again been a key figure for Zinedine Zidane's side during the 2019-20 campaign, contributing seven goals in 34 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, only Raul, Iker Casillas, Manuel Sanchis and Santillana have made more appearances for the Spanish giants than their current skipper, who has featured on 640 occasions since arriving from Sevilla.
