Nottingham Forest insist Simon Cox isn't injured

Nottingham Forest insist that Simon Cox is fully fit after reports suggested that the striker has picked up an injury playing for Ireland against Sweden.

Nottingham Forest have insisted that striker Simon Cox did not pick up an injury while playing for the Republic of Ireland in Friday night's defeat against Sweden.

Cox was brought on in the 68th minute in Dublin on Friday night as Ireland's hopes of qualifying for next year's World Cup suffered a blow.

"Contrary to a recent story in the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest can confirm that striker Simon Cox did not suffer any injury during Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Sweden last Friday," a statement read on the club website.

"It had been reported that the forward, who came on as a substitute in the second half, had sustained a dead leg and would face a battle to be fit for the league match against Barnsley this Saturday."

Cox is yet to get off the mark for Forest this season.
