Thierry Henry: 'Paul Pogba should not play as holding midfielder at Man United'

Thierry Henry tells Manchester United not to play imminent new signing Paul Pogba as a holding midfielder.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has urged Manchester United not to play Paul Pogba as a holding midfielder this season.

The France international is expected to become the world's most expensive footballer in the coming days amid reports that United are willing to pay £90m for the 23-year-old's services.

Pogba, who has spent the last four years at Juventus, left United in 2012 on a free transfer, but is on the verge of returning to Old Trafford after he touched down in Manchester today for a medical.

Henry believes that Pogba will prove to be an asset for Jose Mourinho's team, but only if he is played in the correct position.

"When he plays in a higher position on the field he can be more efficient," Henry told Sky Sports News. "He has tons of skills, he can score you the odd goal and give you an assist from time to time, and I think that he will help Manchester United in that position.

"I don't think it's a good thing if they play him as a holding midfielder. It looks like he's going to come and I'm very excited to see him in the Premier League."

Mourinho has signed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan so far this summer.
