Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez says that he does not know how much money will be made available to him for the January transfer window.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has revealed that he has not been told how much money he will have to spend during the January transfer window.

Benitez has previously acknowledged his frustrations with the funds available to him at St James' Park but despite the club being up for sale, the Spaniard is expected to be able to make new signings.

However, the Magpies boss has said that he is still waiting on information regarding any potential business after holding meetings with the club last week.

The 57-year-old told reporters: "I don't know exactly what is our budget, so I don't have any news. We have to keep working, make sure we have our targets, but all I can do is prepare for the game.

"We had a meeting last week but I am waiting for an answer."

Benitez has spent £45m to make half-a-dozen permanent signings since the end of last season, but at least half of that outlay has been recouped from sales.
