Newcastle United receive Loic Remy fitness boost

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew reveals that Loic Remy could be fit to play against Fulham next week.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that striker Loic Remy could return to action next week.

The Frenchman, who has moved to St James' Park on a season-long loan from Queens Park Rangers, was initially thought to be on the sidelines until September 14 with a calf injury.

However, Pardew has revealed that Remy could take part in the Magpies' match against Fulham next Saturday.

"We have Loic Remy coming back, and he's two weeks away," the Sunderland Echo quotes Pardew as saying. "Maybe he might make the Fulham game. The West Ham game is a bridge too far."

Newcastle began their 2013-14 campaign with a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City last night.
