Aitor Karanka: 'We were better than Leicester City'

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka reveals his frustration after being forced to settle for a point at Leicester City.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has revealed his frustration after his side were forced to settle for a point at Leicester City this afternoon.

Boro twice led the contest at the King Power Stadium through an Alvaro Negredo brace but went home with a share of the spoils after Islam Slimani converted from the spot deep into injury time.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Karanka spoke of an "unfair" result and insisted that his side were the better team.

"We showed we are a good team and are playing well. We should have won the game and were better than them," he said.

"We cannot forget Leicester won the Premier League last season and have qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League. However, it's unfair to draw this game. Our performances with and without the ball have been good. Against top teams we have been really organised.

"I know how good Alvaro Negredo is, and knew the goals would arrive. He did that because the team worked hard. We all have to keep working now."

The result kept Boro 15th in the Premier League table, one point above the dropzone.
