Timo Werner would fit in well at Liverpool as the Reds play a similar style of football to RB Leipzig, according to the German club's director of operations Ralf Rangnick.

RB Leipzig chief Ralf Rangnick has admitted that striker Timo Werner would be well suited to a move to Liverpool.

The Reds are one of a number of teams believed to be in the running to sign Werner at the end of the season, along with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Rangnick is confident that the Germany international would "fit" Liverpool's system under Jurgen Klopp, but he remains hopeful that Leipzig will keep hold of their prized asset.

"The league is less important, but the club, from a purely hypothetical point of view, I would better see him in good hands with a club that is not necessarily defined by ball possession football," he told Bild.

"Since Timo has made progress under Julian Nagelsmann, his most important weapons, however, are the quick switching movement and his powerful finish.

"Therefore, he would rather fit a club like Liverpool, which is similar to our style of play, but I would prefer him to stay here."

Werner will reportedly be available for £44m at the end of the season if Leipzig fail to win the Bundesliga title.
