Manchester United are reportedly reluctant to pay Fiorentina's £25m asking price for their Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Fiorentina have reportedly dismissed Manchester United's initial bid for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as unacceptable.

Amrabat helped Fiorentina to both Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League finals last season, and earned global praise for his performances at the World Cup with Morocco.

Man United boss Erik ten Hag worked with Amrabat when he was a youngster at Utrecht, before representing Feyenoord, Club Brugge, Hellas Verona, and his current club Fiorentina.

Corriere dello Sport claims that United are reluctant to pay the £25m fee that Fiorentina are requesting, but have still tabled an undisclosed bid.

Fiorentina are not impressed with the offer, and look set to stand firm on their valuation of the player.

Amrabat played 49 times for Fiorentina, but after failing to finish in the Serie A top seven on top of the two cup final defeats, La Viola cannot offer the Moroccan European football next season.

After an impressive World Cup where Ambrabat was ever present for the Atlas Lions, there was heavy interest in the player during the January window, and his name continues to be linked with Premier League clubs this summer.

Ten Hag may look to bolster his midfield after their well-documented struggles last season when Casemiro was absent with suspension.

However, with the Red Devils set to spend upwards of £100m if deals for Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund come to fruition, they are unlikely to have much left in the bank to spend elsewhere.

A new goalkeeper and a striker are the priorities at Old Trafford, especially after David de Gea's exit and the failed loan move of Wout Weghorst.

Mason Mount has also arrived for a large sum, so United may hope to offload a few current squad members to recoup much of their spending.

Anthony Martial is rumoured to be one of the players who could depart, along with namesake Anthony Elanga, while Dean Henderson is expected to move to Nottingham Forest if Onana comes in.
