Louis van Gaal: 'Difficult to stay on at Manchester United'

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal admits that he would 'find it hard' to commit his future to the Red Devils beyond the summer of 2017.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has admitted that it would be "very hard" for him to stay at Old Trafford beyond the end of the 2016-17 season.

The Dutchman signed a three-year contract with the Premier League side in the summer of 2014, but it has been reported that the 64-year-old could pen a fresh deal.

Van Gaal, however, has said that a promise he made to his wife would make it difficult to continue in football management beyond 2017.

"Normally I shall leave after next year but what is normal in our football world you never know. I promised my wife I would go to our paradise [in Portugal]. It will be very hard to deny her that promise. It shall be very hard to my wife," Van Gaal told reporters.

The Dutchman's comments came at a press conference ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash against Wolfsburg.
