Wayne Rooney will be out of action for Manchester United's match against Queens Park Rangers this Saturday as he continues to battle with a sinus infection.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be unavailable for selection for this Saturday's Premier League match against Queens Park Rangers, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed.

The England international has been battling a sinus infection since he was ruled out of the former Premier League champions' 2-1 win over Reading in the FA Cup on Monday evening.

Despite being sidelined with illness for a week, Ferguson has claimed that the 27-year-old will be unable to recover in time for this weekend's clash against struggling QPR.

Meanwhile, defender Phil Jones will also be out of action with an ankle injury.
