Manchester United 'draw up five-man shortlist for director of football'

Manchester United reportedly draw up a five-man shortlist in their search for a director of football, which includes the likes of Luis Campos and Marc Overmars.

Manchester United have reportedly identified five potential candidates in their search for a new director of football.

The Red Devils have been urged to recruit for the position amid criticism of their transfer business recently, most notably United's failure to land Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window.

United's owners - the Glazer family - are supposedly involved in the decision-making process, with Record Sport claiming that the Red Devils have drawn up a five-man shortlist for the job.

Former Monaco and Lille director Luis Campos is said to be one name on the list, with the highly-regarded Portuguese director potentially tempted at the prospect of working with a Premier League club.

The report also claims that current Monaco director Paul Mitchell - who has previously worked with Tottenham Hotspur - is another candidate for the role and could come back to England if his former colleague Mauricio Pochettino lands the United job.

Ajax director Marc Overmars has previously admitted that he is looking for a fresh challenge, and the Red Devils have also been linked with the former Arsenal winger, who works alongside ex-Man United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar at the Eredivisie giants.
