Louis van Gaal: 'I know what Manchester United players to offload'

Louis van Gaal says that he knows which players he needs to sign and sell during the summer in order to improve Manchester United.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that he knows which players he needs to sign and sell in order to mount a Premier League title challenge next season.

The Dutchman enjoyed a satisfactory first season in England after guiding the Red Devils back to the Champions League with a fourth-placed finish - 19 points behind champions Chelsea.

United concluded their 2014-15 campaign with a 0-0 draw at Hull City on Sunday, but Van Gaal says that he has already identified the changes needed to spark further improvement next time around.

"I have calls with every player I think I have to talk to, but the transfer period is a process," he told reporters.

"I know which players have to go and which players have to come but you never know if they go or if they come because it is dependent on a lot of aspects."

Van Gaal's side will need to survive a two-legged Champions League playoff in August before booking their spot in the group stages.
