Phil Jones is happy to have Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic available again after injury.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has said that it is "a fantastic boost" to have captain Nemanja Vidic available for the busy festive period.

Vidic had been sidelined for three months but made a return towards the end of United's 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

Jones is happy to see Vidic back in the team and thinks that the added competition for places will help United.

"It's a fantastic boost for us to have Nemanja back," Jones told reporters. "He's a fantastic player, a great captain and it's important he's back for the busy festive period.

"I enjoy the competition for places. It keeps people on their toes and keeps us fighting for the shirt."

United opened up a six-point lead over rivals Manchester City at the top of the Premier League at the weekend and kick off the Christmas period with a trip to Swansea City on Sunday.
