Martin Skrtel: 'Liverpool confident of top-four finish'

Martin Skrtel reveals that Liverpool are confident of achieving a top-four finish this season.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has revealed that the squad is confident of achieving a top-four finish this season.

The Merseysiders have enjoyed a solid start to their Premier League campaign, with seven wins out of 11 games moving them up to second place in the table.

Despite admitting that there is still a long way to go before the final positions are decided, Skrtel believes that the team is heading in the right direction.

"A good start was something we targeted and prepared for, but the season is very long and we just go from game to game trying to get as many points as possible," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"All of us believe that this season we can stay towards the top positions and get back into Europe. To play in the Champions League is the dream for every player.

"We are working hard every single day to achieve that. I hope at the end of the season we will be happy."

Liverpool's next fixture in the Premier League is a trip to local rivals Everton on Saturday.
