Klopp: 'Mohamed Salah can still improve'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists that Mohamed Salah can still improve after the Egypt winger took his tally for the season up to 23 goals before the New Year.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned that Mohamed Salah can still improve following his match-winning brace against Leicester City at Anfield this afternoon.

The 25-year-old scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season to help Liverpool come from behind against the Foxes, ensuring that they will occupy a Champions League place at the turn of the year.

Salah's tally across all competitions equals Liverpool's long-standing club-record of goals before the new year - matching Roger Hunt's 1961-62 campaign - but Klopp insists that there is still more to come from the Egyptian.

"Yes, he can keep that standard, for sure. He is still a young player, he can improve," he told reporters.

"It's not about scoring only, it's about other situations as well. He's so important for us but he knows and I know that he couldn't score if he didn't have the fantastic support of all the other boys.

"We played fantastic passes. Sadio Mane's idea (a back-heel) in the moment before Mo scored the first goal I don't think a lot of people in the stadium saw that it would be an opportunity. That was really important."

Seventeen of Salah's goals have now come in the Premier League, averaging one every 94 minutes and leaving him behind only Harry Kane in the top-scorers list.
