Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: 'We must carry on after League Cup defeat'

Jurgen Klopp says that his Liverpool side must "carry on" after losing the League Cup final to Manchester City on penalties.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that his side must "carry on" after losing the League Cup final on penalties to Manchester City.

City took the lead through Fernandinho after a goalless first half and looked on course for victory in normal time until Philippe Coutinho's 83rd-minute leveller at Wembley.

Neither side could find a winner in extra time, so penalties were required and it was City's keeper Wilfredo Caballero that stole the headlines with three saves in a row to help City win the shootout 3-1.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after the match, Klopp said: "I am disappointed of course with the end. Pleased with a lot of things I saw in the game.

"We tried everything, we scored the goal. We had a big chance with another few situations. It is unlucky but it is one way to lose a cup final. Manchester City should not have scored their goal, we had to strike back and we did. We played well in a lot of moments. It doesn't matter what I say now, it won't change the result.

"We all have to feel it now. It is was it is. You can fall but it is how you stand up. We cannot change this game now, we have to carry on and we will carry on."

Klopp has now lost his last four finals as a manager.
