Glen Johnson won't let toe injury halt his Euro 2012 campaign

Glen Johnson is adamant that an ongoing toe infection will not stop him from playing for England throughout the Euro 2012 tournament.

England and Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson has insisted that he will play through the pain barrier as he tries to shake off a toe infection.

The 27-year-old was an injury doubt ahead of the European Championships with a toe problem, for which the former Chelsea defender has had to endure injections and antibiotics to ease the pain.

"For the last four games of the Premier League I had a toe infection and was playing with three injections just to kill the pain," said Johnson.

"I've been on antibiotics for pretty much five weeks now and it's still there, but it's getting better. I came off them for five days and it got a lot worse, so I'm still on them.

"They're obviously doing something. It's still there but it's manageable. I'm training but it's generally sore after games. But we're in a European Championships and I'm not going to let my little toe stop me. We've got two more games and I want to enjoy these moments and give it every effort I can."

Johnson is expected to start for Roy Hodgson in the Three Lions' second Group D game against Sweden on Friday.
