Rudi Garcia admits that Lille's chances of finishing third in Ligue 1 are out of their hands.

Lille coach Rudi Garcia has admitted that his side's chances of finishing in the top three in Ligue 1 are slim.

The former French champions are currently sixth in the league table with 57 points from 35 matches, three points behind third-placed Lyon.

"It's out of our hands," he told reporters. "We'll have to wait and see how our direct rivals fare. Even though, mathematically, it's still possible, we're dependent on other results. If we had won, we could have watched these matches calmly. But that won't be the case.

"The only thing that's certain is that there are still nine points up for grabs. Nothing is lost yet. We need to roll up our sleeves. We have three matches left and we have to give our all against Reims [on Friday] to get back to winning ways.

"It had been a long time since we lost and now we need to bounce back. You can judge the quality of a team by its capacity to bounce back from defeat and to come through the experience with something positive."

Nice and Saint-Etienne are in fourth and fifth respectively.
