Leeds United manager Brian McDermott rejects Republic of Ireland links

Leeds United manager Brian McDermott insists that he is committed to the club, despite being linked with the Republic of Ireland vacancy.

Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has insisted that he is '100% committed' to the Championship outfit following reports that he is a contender for the Republic of Ireland vacancy.

The Football Association of Ireland are said to be considering a move for the ex-Reading boss following the governing body's decision to part company with Giovanni Trapattoni yesterday.

However, according to Leeds's Twitter account, McDermott has revealed today that he is "proud" to be linked to the role, but is focused on his job at Elland Road.

The 52-year-old has also been quoted as saying that ex-Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill would be a good choice for the job.
