Torino slam Antonio Conte over post-match comments

Torino release a statement challenging Juventus coach Antonio Conte's comments about the Turin derby.

Torino have released a statement criticising Juventus coach Antonio Conte over comments he made in the wake of his side's 1-0 victory in the Turin derby.

The club questioned the Bianconeri coach's claim that his team "held the ball and attacked for 70 minutes" and pointed out that Paul Pogba's winner should have been ruled out for offside.

"How does Conte count?" reads a statement on the club's official website. "At the end of the derby Antonio Conte declared, responding to those who asked about the goal on which Carlos Tevez was clearly offside, said 'Juve held the ball and attacked for 70 minutes. Therefore it's normal there are going to be more incidents to discuss.'

"One has to ask what Conte's using to count possession, seeing as the statistics on the Lega Calcio website show Juventus had 52% possession against 48 per cent for Toro. The Juventus superiority was therefore not particularly crushing."

Torino went on to challenge Conte's claim that Ciro Immobile should have been sent off during the match.

The statement added: "Was Immobile's foul really worth a dismissal? In which case the Granata would have the same question, what would've happened had the identical foul from Pogba on Omar El Kaddouri been sanctioned with a red, or the second yellow that Claudio Marchisio deserved?

"The truth is that Juventus won the derby 1-0 and that the only goal was with a very clear offside position. Anything else is just pointless words. Conte must certainly have been better at Italian than mathematics."

Conte's side are still unbeaten in Serie A this season, with five wins and a draw from their six matches.
