Howard Kendall believes that Duncan Ferguson would be the "perfect" candidate to replace David Moyes as Everton manager.

Former Everton manager Howard Kendall believes that Duncan Ferguson would be the right man to fill David Moyes's boots.

The former Toffees striker has been part of the coaching staff since 2011, but Kendall is confident that he would succeed in the hotseat left behind by Moyes, who will replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford in July.

"Duncan would be a popular choice with a lot of people," Kendall told BBC Sport. "I think he would be the perfect man and I would really like to see him being given the chance.

"He is the type of character who could handle the pressure. He would have a presence and it really could work with someone perhaps a little bit older alongside him."

Ferguson made over 250 appearances for Everton during his playing days.
