Roberto Martinez looking forward to Europa League last-16 second leg

Everton manager Roberto Martinez is looking forward to his side's Europa League last-16 second leg against Dynamo Kiev after securing a 2-1 win at Goodison Park.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has praised his side's strong display against Dynamo Kiev in Thursday night's Europa League last-16 first leg, calling on his charges to finish the job in Ukraine seven days from now.

The Toffees have a slight advantage in the tie after goals from Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku were enough to overturn Oleh Gusev's first-half goal and seal a 2-1 win.

Martinez told BBC Sport after the game: "We learned that when we have got that tempo in our play and when we use the character we have we are a very strong team.

"We scored a very good goal and had one cleared off the line. You could see the momentum carrying us through. We then kept Dynamo Kiev very, very quiet and in those situations you can be exposed.

"Now we are looking forward to the second leg as we travel well in Europe. It is a challenge we are looking forward to."

Everton's Europa League campaign is a welcome reprieve from their domestic troubles, the Merseyside outfit struggling in the lower reaches of the Premier League table.
