Paul Scholes: 'England can reach semi-finals at Euro 2016'

Former England midfielder Paul Scholes says that the Three Lions are capable of reaching the semi-finals at Euro 2016.

Paul Scholes has said that he is excited about the team spirit within the England squad ahead of Euro 2016.

Since reaching the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup, England have only progressed to the last eight of one major tournament but after an impressive two years since failing to win a game at the World Cup in Brazil, Scholes feels that the Three Lions will perform better in France next month.

The 41-year-old told the Daily Mail: "I'm really excited - more than I have been over the last three or four tournaments. The team spirit is brilliant. In the last four or five tournaments I don't think the team spirit was at its strongest but these players are willing to learn.

"They're young players, they listen to coaches and they are listening to team-mates. We probably won't win it yet but they're not too far away from possibly the semi-final when you look at the talent in the squad.

"We've got exciting players and if they can find a way of playing and gel together, we've got a great chance of getting to the semis."

England continue their preparation for the tournament with a friendly against Australia on Friday night.
