Tottenham Hotspur allegedly earmark Raul Meireles as a replacement for the outgoing Luka Modric.

Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly lining up Raul Meireles as a replacement for the outgoing Luka Modric.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to reteam with the midfielder, having coached him at both Chelsea and Porto, The Mirror reports.

Meireles is said to have been an avid supporter of Villas-Boas, standing by him when he was ousted from Stamford Bridge during the last campaign.

Portugal international Joao Moutinho and Yann M'Vila of France have also been touted as potential replacements for Modric.

However, Moutinho's current club Porto recently slapped a £30m price tag on the player, and Villas-Boas expressed doubt that M'Vila would favour a move to the London club.

Modric is expected to complete a transfer to Real Madrid imminently.
