Jose Mourinho against "artificial" guard of honour

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says that he is against the prospect of Liverpool giving his side a guard of honour at Stamford Bridge next week.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that he is against receiving a guard of honour from Liverpool when the Reds travel to Stamford Bridge next week.

The Blues secured the Premier League title on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, and Brendan Rodgers's side could give the new champions the traditional sign of respect next week.

However, Mourinho has said that he doesn't like the tradition, branding it as "artificial", and there are no specific rules in place that state Liverpool have to give the guard at Stamford Bridge.

The Mirror quotes Mourinho as saying: "I don't like it. I think, in Spain, they did it for us at Real Madrid.

"If it's tradition, that's no problem for me. But you can show respect for the winner in many different ways.

"If some of them don't want to be there and they are there just because somebody tells them to be there, maybe it's a bit artificial."

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Gary Neville has praised Mourinho for leading Chelsea to the title.
