Frank Lampard to call time on playing career?

Frank Lampard is pondering his future after bringing an end to his time with New York City FC, and could now reportedly hang up his boots for good.

Former England and Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard could reportedly retire from football after calling time on his stint in Major League Soccer with New York City FC.

The 38-year-old, who has spent 16 months Stateside with the Manchester City-affiliated side, announced on Monday afternoon that he was looking for a new challenge.

Lampard will officially leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the year and has already been linked with a number of English sides, though The Mirror claims that he could bow out of the game for good.

It is suggested that Lampard, the scorer of 15 goals in 31 appearances for New York, is still pondering his playing future but may now turn towards a career in coaching.

New York saw their hopes of MLS Cup success come to an end recently when they were thrashed by Toronto FC in the playoff stage.
