Eden Hazard sidelined for up to two weeks with calf injury

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez expects Eden Hazard to miss around two weeks of action.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that Chelsea forward Eden Hazard will miss "between 10 and 15 days" with the calf injury picked up last week.

The 26-year-old missed the Blues' 2-1 win over Stoke City at the weekend as a result of the minor problem, which he sustained in training on Friday.

Hazard was initially expected to be fit enough to feature in national side Belgium's upcoming games against Russia and Greece, but he pulled out of the squad on Monday morning to undergo further treatment.

Former Everton boss Martinez has now provided a further update, ruling the forward - who has 11 goals and four assists in the Premier League this season - out of action for around two weeks.

"He has been in Belgium but not with the group, and we are working with Chelsea to get the best treatment," he told reporters. "It is a big problem to lose Hazard, it is obvious that we wanted to have him, but it will be a good test for us without him."

Should the initial prognosis be correct, Hazard will likely miss Chelsea's next outing - a league clash with Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on April 1, while also leaving him doubtful for the meeting with Manchester City four days later.
