Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay says his side will be fired up for next week's Championship semi-final second leg playoff against West Ham United.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay has insisted that his side will be fired up for their Championship semi-final second leg playoff against West Ham United despite going into the game trailing 2-0.

A Jack Collison brace at the Cardiff City Stadium means that the Bluebirds will go into next week's game at Upton Park with a deficit, but Mackay backed his players to give their all.

"We've got a second leg of a semi-final coming up, there's no lifting needed," said Cardiff manager told BBC Sport. "We go into that focused and we go in and make sure that we give everything we've got."

Opening up about Thursday evening's defeat, Mackay put the result down to conceding two soft goals.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game for us and obviously it was, but again we've got to not concede bad goals," he added.

"The first was a bad goal we conceded, the second was complete luck in terms of it hitting someone and going in the other direction."

Cardiff will visit Upton Park for the second leg on May 7.
