Nathaniel Mendez-Laing: 'There's a lot at stake against Wolverhampton Wanderers'

Cardiff City winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing admits that there is "a lot at stake" in his side's match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday.

Cardiff City winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has admitted that there is "a lot at stake" in his side's match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday.

The Championship's top two sides, who are separated by six points, go head to head in South Wales in the pick of this weekend's games.

Mendez-Laing told The Sun that Friday's game is one of the most important of his career so far, adding that he is excited to play with a bumper crowd behind him.

"This is probably one of the biggest games I've played in. It's up there with the play-off semi-finals and finals. There's a lot at stake and we have a sell-out crowd," the 25-year-old said.

"This has been a dream of mine and there have been people along the way who have said 'You won't make it'. I don't go out to prove people wrong as such but I like people to eat their words.

"It's a great opportunity. It doesn't come around every day so we are working hard to grasp it."

Cardiff are five points clear of the playoff places in second with seven games left to play.
