Tuesday's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup: Lionel Messi, Neymar, Philippe Coutinho

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Barcelona on Tuesday, August 18.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Barcelona eye possible reinforcements.

The Spanish champions spent big on Antoine Griezmann last summer but missed out on a big-name striker in January and have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, meaning that selling players rather than buying could be their priority this summer.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news from the Camp Nou.

Tuesday morning's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup:

Barcelona 'rekindle interest in Neymar'

Barcelona have reportedly reignited their interest in Neymar as the Catalan giants look to rebuild ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Quique Setien's side endured a dismal end to the season as they relinquished their La Liga crown to Real Madrid before suffering a humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Setien's time at Camp Nou is reportedly nearing an end, and as well as eyeing up suitable candidates for the manager's vacancy, Barca are believed to have set their sights on one of their former stars to make a sensational return to Catalonia.

According to Sport, Barca are indeed interested in bringing Neymar back to Camp Nou - three years after the Brazil international became the world's most expensive player when he signed for Paris Saint-Germain.

The report claims that Barcelona could look to use Antoine Griezmann, who has struggled to make a name for himself at Camp Nou, as part of a deal for Neymar.

The former Barca man notched up 105 goals in 186 games for the Catalan giants before leaving for PSG, where he has kept up his prolific form by netting 70 times in 83 games for the Ligue 1 champions.

Neymar has just under two years left to run on his current deal with PSG.

Philippe Coutinho 'could still have Barcelona future after Setien sacking'

Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho could reportedly be handed a new lease of life at Camp Nou following manager Quique Setien's dismissal.

Barca relieved Setien of his duties after the Catalan giants suffered a crushing 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with Coutinho scoring two and setting up another against his parent club.

The former Liverpool man was sent out on loan to Bayern after failing to make his mark at Camp Nou, leading to widespread speculation that Coutinho would head for the Barcelona exit door this summer.

However, Mundo Deportivo claims that a new manager could be just what Coutinho needs to get his Barcelona career up and running again, with Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman tipped to become Setien's successor in Catalonia.

The report claims that Barca were initially keen to part ways with Coutinho in order to balance the books, and Arsenal, who are thought to be leading the race to sign the attacker, could still look to swoop for Coutinho ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

The Brazil international is under contract at Barca until 2023, where he has managed to find the back of the net 21 times in 76 matches thus far.
